Simply put, the retirement living program at BCE is meant for folks who are able to take care of themselves and hope to continue to do so for some time. Yet, we realize circumstances arise where additional help is needed. For example, if you are ill a meal brought to your apartment could make all the difference. If you should be hospitalized and need help arranging for services upon returning, our wellness nurse is your advocate and facilitator.

This section is incomplete without a discussion of how personal care needs can be addressed short and long term. While BCE is built to code for assisted living, this particular licensing is not in effect at the time of the opening. In the future, some apartments may be converted to independent assisted living depending on resident needs. In the meantime, our wellness nurse can do routine blood pressure checks and help link resident needs with appropriate community resources.

We want to leave you with this additional thought. If health needs should come up, we will be supportive- do what we can, as much as we legally can, and help you arrange for anything that might be needed. Your apartment is your home. You have the right to bring in help at any time.
